The beautiful Beaufort mountain range is visible from many vantage points in the Comox Valley, and is the namesake of our vineyard and winery. The range is comprised of 11 peaks, which extend from Horne Lake at the southern end, to Comox Lake (near Cumberland) at its northern end. The entire range can be viewed from our vineyard (on most days), and the peaks closest to the Comox Valley are Mount Clifton, Mount Chief Frank, and Tsable Mountain.

The mountains were named after the hydrographer and officer in the British Royal Navy, Sir Francis Beaufort. He was also the creator of the Beaufort Scale for indicating wind force – very important to us sailing-types. For more details on his life and accomplishments, refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_Francis_Beaufort.
